We have all heard about the shortage of young people coming into the FM profession. IFMA Atlanta has a unique opportunity to do something about this coming up on January 10, 2024.
The FM Pipeline organization has an event called FACILITHON which is designed to give students a taste of what Facility Management is about to stimulate interest in the FM professioin. This event has been run at the high school and post-secondary levels through Skills USA in about 15 states plus the National Competition which has been held at the Georgia World Congress Center for the past two years.
Michael Barcarse who teaches Architecture and Construction at Marietta High School and is on the Board of Directors of SkillsUSA Georgia has asked if we can run a modified version of FACILITHON for two of his classes at Marietta High between 9:25 AM and 12:26 PM (2nd and 3rd periods) on January 10.
I need about 10 volunteers who are subject matter experts in FM to work with me as judges and in other support roles for the student presentations. I have all of the information that you might need and will share this with those who can support this effort to introduce our profession to the next generation of Facility Managers.
Let me know if you can help.
Thank you.
