Bio – Bob Viehweger
Topic – LED Lighting – Yesterday and Tomorrow
Bob Viehweger is the President, and co-founder, of LED Light Energy, an LED solutions company that works directly with end users to retrofit their existing lighting (incandescent, metal halide, halogen, etc.) to LEDs. The company was started in 2007 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and now has offices in Chicago, IL and Decatur, GA. Bob works out of the Decatur office, which was opened this year.
Companies with whom LED Light Energy have worked include: Room and Board, Raymond Weil, W Hotels, IHG Group, Kenneth Cole, The Atlantis, Museum Park Condo Tower
Prior to starting LED Light Energy, Bob was the Global Business Manager for Akzo Nobel HPMO which is part of a multi-national company that makes high purity metals for use in the manufacture of LED chips and solar wafers.
Bob is a graduate of Penn State University where he studied economics. He was a four-year letterman (soccer) while at Penn State.
Learning objectives:
- To understand the technical performance of LEDs and why they are superior to existing lighting technologies;
- To be familiar with current/future “high value” applications for LED lighting and controls;
- To understand the commercial viability of LED lighting relative to existing light sources, and to be able to calculate a simple energy savings analysis including payback and ROI.
