NOTE: This is a breakfast meeting

This briefing is designed to give the attendee’s an understanding of the Human factors that are present “before” and during an act of workplace violence. We will focus on the pre-incident indicators that can reveal the intentions of someone who intends to commit an act of violence or that an active shooter is present prior to the event and immediate response practices that can lower the loss of life.

Prevention is our goal, It is not realistic to expect that you can control the trigger mechanism that causes a person to commit an act of extreme violence. Historically in the US we have learned that there is indeed some form of mental break down in the lives of the shooters. With this reality in mind, there are certain factors and visual cues that each attacker or attackers will inadvertently disclose that will reveal what their intentions are prior to the event. Knowing what to look for will enable you to develop strategies designed to intercept the attacker before he or she has an opportunity to carry out the attack.

Michael Briant is the Founder of the Skydas Group which is a threat and risk management firm headquartered in Atlanta. He is a Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English) Security Professional with over 20 years of combined experience in International Security Operations, Law Enforcement and the US Marines Military Police. He has worked on behalf of the United States Government in the South West Asia, The Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean. Mr. Briant has performed multiple roles in the protective security industry including as a team member, tactical commander, protective team leader and was the program manager of protective security operations in Southwest Asia. His team was tasked with providing security for United States Ambassadors, Congressional Delegations, Multi-National Corporations and United States and NATO Military Theater Commanders.

Mike also has years of experience in US Law enforcement including as a patrol officer, Criminal Investigator, General Law Enforcement Instructor and he holds a specialized instructor certification in Firearms and he remains as an adjunct instructor for the State of Georgia Peace Officers and Standards Training Council.
