Brief description of presentation:   

Increase your understanding of the City Energy Project (CEP) and options for benchmarking & transparency within the City of Atlanta’s Energy Data Accelerator (EDA).  The EDA is  focused on low-cost, standardized approaches for whole building performance utilizing tools for targeted energy reduction strategies.

Biography of Mr. Benjamin Taube

Ben Taube

Ben Taube, Senior Vice President and equity owner of Evaporcool and past President of BLT Sustainable Energy.  He served as the founding executive director of the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), an Atlanta nonprofit aimed at implementing energy efficiency across 11 Southeast states from 2007 to 2011.  Ben was the driving force to create a property assessed clean energy (PACE) lending program in Atlanta, GA for the private building sector.  Ben is a co-founder and serves as Chairman of the Global Cleantech Cluster Association, a collaboration of cleantech clusters from around the world. He has held posts as the Environmental Manager for the City of Atlanta; as Director of Government Affairs for EcoSMART Technologies and as Public Affairs Manager for the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute.  Ben was awarded the 2011 Atlanta Business Chronicle Environmental Emerging Leader Award.  He is the Chair of the Local Energy Alliance Program in Charlottesville, VA; a 2008 recipient of the Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under 40 leaders award; a member of the Atlanta Regional Commission 50 Forward Initiative; and serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the American Israel Chamber of Commerce; Gwinnett Technical College Green Advisory Board; and on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Conservation Voters.

Biography of Denise Quarles

Photo of Denise QuarlesMs. Quarles is responsible for carrying out Power to Change, Mayor Kasim Reed’s vision for making Atlanta a top-tier city for sustainability. She sits on the board of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership, and teaches operations management at Richards College of Business at the University of West Georgia. She was vice president for environmental affairs at Southwire and worked 12 years at DaimlerChrysler. A Michigan native, Ms. Quarles holds a master of business administration from the University of Detroit as well as a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State University.
