When I think of the New Year, I immediately think of resolutions. Nearly 45% of Americans make resolutions but a mere 8% actually achieve their goal. What is the number one resolution people make? You probably guessed it…to lose weight. This year let’s strive to make a different kind of resolution….one that is easily attainable and one that I hope more than 8% will achieve. In 2016, I challenge you to make this one resolution – to become more involved in IFMA. Not only will you be eligible to win $100 in our Strive for Five program but you will be taking advantage of all the benefits IFMA has to offer. There are numerous ways you can become involved starting with several upcoming events.
As I mentioned in a previous month’s newsletter, we have some exciting changes coming. One of these is the change in venue of our annual Spring Classic. This year, we are going to beautiful Chateau Elan. As always, the annual fundraiser will feature a golf tournament and championship tennis facilities. However, this year you can take a winery tour, enjoy a relaxing day at the spa, network in a beautiful Chateau and much more! There will be plenty of sponsor opportunities including hole sponsorships where patrons can set up tents & serve food/drink to golfers as they pass by. The event will be held on April 20 so save the date!
Another exciting event will be the exclusive tour of the Coca-Cola Company Global Headquarters for Facility Managers. Held on Friday, January 22 at 7:15am, this tour will include their dining facilities, company store, banking, new conference center and new workplace layout & design. This tour is limited so be sure to visit the website to secure your spot.
Next, we will be offering the Social Media Academy which will be held on February 17 in Duluth. I hope this location will permit attendance from those who find it hard to attend meetings in Buckhead or Cumberland. This will be a 3-hour event and will offer 0.3 CEU’s. There are 3 Learning Objectives:
- Learn how to engage your employees and colleagues with social media
- Learn how to advance your personal knowledge of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube to address real world FM Issues with Social Media
- Learn the latest Social Media time savers and best practices
The Social Media Academy is only $30 and includes lunch. Please visit the website for more information and to register.
Lastly, we are looking into some new luncheon venues in different parts of Metro Atlanta. It’s important to myself and the entire Board that we offer something that all of our members can easily attend. Be sure to check the website for the location of the luncheon each month.
