Hard to believe this is the last president’s letter I will be writing…this year has flown by! To be honest, I thought that by the time June rolled around, I would be counting down the days until I passed the torch. However, I am feeling quite the opposite…as I approach the end of my term I find myself wishing for one more year to lead the Atlanta Chapter of IFMA.
While this year has flown by, it has been filled with lots of hard work and even more fun. I have made some incredible new friends along the way and created some unforgettable memories. It has been an absolute honor to be a part of and lead the greatest IFMA Chapter in the world.
This year was all about trying new things & bringing our Chapter to the next level. This year was merely a small step in this journey to the next level. I am confident that Machelle Pellegrini and her team will take the next step in 2016/2017.
Looking back to my very first president’s letter (which seems like I was writing just yesterday) I outlined some of the goals I wanted to accomplish this year. As outlined in our Balanced Scorecard, we have accomplished many of the goals we set out to achieve, a few of which (not all) are listed below:
- 7 monthly programs offered CEU’s (we surpassed our goal of 6). Every program we set out to achieve CEU’s was successful
- Provided morning, afternoon and evening events to engage the widest segment of members possible
- Switched our monthly program one month from a luncheon to a breakfast
- Switched venues for the Spring Classic
- Updated the Member Survey – included more detailed questions and provided deeper insight to our memberships wants, likes, etc.
- Increased the KSU scholarship to match that of Georgia Tech
- Added Friday to the Community Service Volunteer Day – this led to an over 300% increase in participation
The achievement of these goals and many others would not have been possible without the help of the board and the entire membership. I want to thank each and every one of you for your hard work and dedication throughout the year. As I have stated before, it was Andrew Carnegie who said “No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit for doing it.”
Thank you for believing in me and allowing me the opportunity to serve you in 2015/2016. Please join me in welcoming Machelle Pellegrini and her hair extension team as they continue this journey to the next level.
