IFMA Atlanta Members:
I just returned from World Workplace – the International Facility Management conference that was held in New Orleans this year – and feel energized! It is such a special feeling to be with thousands of other people who all know what a Facility Manager does – and most of whom do the same type of work themselves! I was able to attend several education sessions that I believe will help me do my job better, and reconnect with friends from around the country.
At the conference, I also saw two IFMA Atlanta chapter members recognized at the International level for their hard work and dedication to the field. William Broome, of the Westminster Schools, won the “Sheila Sheridan Award for Sustainable Facility Operations and Management.” Anthony Maddox, of the Weather Channel, won the “Emerging Professional Award.” Please congratulate both William and Anthony the next time you see either one of them – both awards are huge honors.
On an unrelated note – I am working on a presentation for next year that will be on the hidden job market. I’d like to hear from Facility Managers who were recruited for their current job through a social network like LinkedIn. If you fit this description, please contact me at [email protected]. Thanks!
Joseph
