It’s officially Fall and I relayed last month that things are getting busy here at IFMA Atlanta and kudos to our committees for bringing our vision to life. We have provided a variety of meetings that our members are excited to attend and as a result, our September event at EMCOR was another sell out! With that being said, we have added additional events for the remainder of this year and want to make you aware of some changes to our previously scheduled upcoming events.
On October 21st, we have added our “Fall-unteer” Day (Volunteer Day – did you get the play on words?). We will be helping one of our deserving partners, Project Community Connections, Inc. (PCCI), with the following tasks: tree pruning and trimming, outdoor clean up, indoor painting and wiring of security cameras. Please help us give back to our community by volunteering your time and talents, see link. It is well worth the sacrifice of a few hours of your time to help our volunteer partners.
As I mentioned in my last message, we have the Georgia Tech & Kennesaw State Student Meet and Greet on October 25th. There will be a presentation by Ed Rondeau and the topic will be “Lessons Learned: Launching Your FM Career.” Please come meet the students and share your experience. This event is limited to the first 25 Facility Managers to register.
Now on October 27th, we will have a New Member Mixer. New and existing members and guests will get a chance to learn more about our IFMA Atlanta Chapter and how IFMA can benefit us professionally and provide us with the opportunity to network with industry professionals. If you have any questions about the Mixer, please reach out to our Members Committee Chair, Amber Brown at [email protected] or register.
The tour of Chick-Fil-A Headquarters was originally scheduled for October 21st. This date has changed and it will now be held on November 4th. This tour will take you from the lobby through the office floors and conference/training Center. The tour presentation will be led by Franklin Cook: Director, Campus Planning and Design at Chick-fil-A. Also, we would like to thank Steelcase for sponsoring this event and you will get a chance to win a Steelcase Gesture Task Chair at this event. Remember that this tour is limited to the first 25 Facility Managers that sign up. Go online now and register because this event will fill up fast.
We have more details for our November 16th meeting which will be held at Ernst & Young, LLP. This will be a morning event that will start at 8:30 and end around 10 a.m. with an optional tour afterwards. As I also mentioned last month, this will be a panel discussion focusing on preparing, negotiating, building and running a build in place project. Below are the panelists scheduled to present:
- Joe Pearson-Location Manager (GA Locations), EY
- Glenn Dyke-Broker for EY, CBRE
- Rachel Blankenship-Leasing/Real Estate, EY
- Karen Rippeon-Design & Construction, EY
- John Meckley, Facilities/Operations Leader (SE Region), EY
- Michelle Vaughn, 55 Ivan Allen Property Manager, Lincoln Property Group
The November meeting is shaping up to be another fantastic meeting and I would like to thank our Vice President, Joe Pearson for coordinating it. Registration will be open soon!
Finally, registration for the December 14th Holiday Luncheon and Awards Ceremony should also be open soon and don’t forget that Atlanta Workplace 2017 is just around the corner. Registration for Atlanta Workplace to be held on February 17th at the Loudermilk is now open and if you sign up now and you can take advantage of the $99.00 early bird rate. You can go to www.atlantaworkplace.com to register.
Next month I hope to report on the new Sustaining Patrons Program that is being organized by Committee Chair, Tom Haslach. Tom is revamping the program so that participants will get more bang for their buck. He has held several focus group meetings to obtain input about the program. So if you would like to find out more about the program or provide Tom with additional feedback on what you would like to see in the new Sustaining Patrons Program, please contact him at [email protected].
Looking forward to seeing you at the next IFMA Atlanta event!
