What motivated you to enter your career? I was motivated to enter my career because I enjoy a challenge. Sales is nothing but challenges and competition and I thrive in both. Adding the challenge of selling roofing and preventative maintenance just makes it fun because I am constantly learning and trying to better myself.
How long have you been in your field? I have been in the sales field for a little over three years now and in commercial roofing sales for one year now.
What other professional organizations are you involved in? I am also a member of BOMA, and CREW and I volunteer my time coaching soccer at the YMCA and I am a proud board member of Vision Rehabilitation Services (VRS).
Tell us something that not many people may know about you? I play the violin!
What was your first job? Craziest job? Or crazy on the job experience ? My first job was at Honeybaked ham back in high school and I loved the sandwiches! My craziest work experience happened while working at MGI Roofing when I went up on my first roof, it was so high and such an adrenaline rush that I knew this was where I wanted to be.
What is furthest place you have ever visited? The Furthest place I have ever visited is Cozumel, Mexico.
How did you end up in facility management or the position that you are in? I met my current boss while I was a general manager for L.A fitness. I was able to solve a problem for him and through our conversation he felt that I would make a great addition to his team, turns out he was right!
What is your personal secret to success or personal motto? Never allow people to determine what you can and cannot do. If you believe it, then anything is possible.
What has been the most important aspect that has contributed to your success? God and my family. I would be nothing without the two constantly present in my life!
What has been the greatest challenge you’ve experienced in your career? The biggest challenge in my career that I have faced is learning effective communication with my peers in the workplace. Ensuring that I always have a team player attitude and having a lot of patience.
What is your biggest pet peeve at your job? My biggest pet peeve is waiting for things to be approved and signed off on by the head people in charge.
How do you de-stress? I de-stress by going to the movies or exercising or playing with my cute dog Charlie Brown!
How has your Atlanta Chapter IFMA membership benefited you and/or your career? IFMA atlantat has benefited me and my career because it has allowed me to meet some of the most amazing and talented people ever! Everyone is so nice and helpful whenever I have a question or do not understand something. I have also been able to create relationships that I hope to maintain throughout my career.
What is your favorite Hobby? My favorite hobby is watching movie. I love sci-fi and fantasy, anything that is out of this world, literally.
What is your business philosophy? Favorite quote? “We are what we repeatedly do; excellence then is not an act but a habit.” -Aristotle
Have you read any good books or seen any good movies lately? What did you like about it? I recently read Love Does by Bob Goff. In the book it talks about the amazing ways that we receive Gods love in ways that we don’t recognize in the moment but later realize He was showing He loved us the entire time.
What do you find the most challenging at your job? Learning the “roofers’ lingo”
If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day? I would like to be a Jedi night for a day! I think it would be so cool to learn Jedi mind tricks and how to use a light saber.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? I enjoy getting to know people the most, networking and building relationships is where it is at! I don’t think I am meant to be behind a desk all day.
What does a typical day look like for you? Atypical day for me is hard to describe because it is never the same thing. Most of my days include committee meetings for other organizations, cold calling, proposal presentations or taking a roofing seminar to expand my knowledge on the matter.
